Alberta sports betting is legal online for adults 18 and up. The province's regulated market opened on 13 July 2026, and today 20 legal sportsbooks accept bets from Albertans. A sportsbook is just the sports-betting section of a gambling site.

Alberta Betting Sites Open Now

The official list of gambling sites that Albertans can use is kept by the Alberta iGaming Corporation. Its directory lists 51 sites, which are run by 32 companies. On launch day, twenty-two of them were already live.

Twenty of the 51 take sports bets. Just two of them, bet365 Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook, offer sports betting alone. The other 18 add casino games to that same account.

Not every registered brand has launched yet. Eight are still waiting to open: Betano, Fire Vegas, Mr Vegas, PointsBet, ToonieBet, Videoslots, Bet United Casino, and 247bet.

Betting Apps in Alberta

Of the 51 open sites, 33 have an Alberta iPhone app in the App Store. Some sportsbooks also run in an ordinary web browser. DraftKings, for instance, accepts bets via its mobile apps or from any desktop.

After you install an app, it pays to confirm the company name appears on the official list. One company often runs several brands. Score Media & Gaming Inc., for instance, runs theScore Bet, theScore Casino, and Hollywood Casino.

Verifying a Site on Your Own

Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis maintains a register of gaming registrants. In plain terms, a registrant is any company the province has green-lit to offer gambling. You will find each online company there, along with the date its registration runs out.

  1. Track down the company behind the site, typically found in the site's footer.
  2. Search for that company in the register to confirm its approval.
  3. Check the site itself against the Alberta iGaming Corporation directory, because a company can be approved before its site goes live.

Which Alberta Sportsbook Is Best?

We don't crown a champion or grade these sites, so they appear from A to Z. What each one offers can still guide your choice. If pro football is your thing, BetRivers lets you watch every Alberta game live. bet365 Sportsbook covers more than 96 sports. Only FanDuel Sportsbook has CFL Same Game Parlays.

Sport Select and PRO•LINE Explained

Alberta's lottery-style sports betting goes by the name Sport Select. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation runs it. PRO•LINE is one bet type within Sport Select.

Tickets are bought in person at a Lotto Spot retailer. On sportselect.com you can create a QR code with your picks, though the store prints the ticket itself. Each ticket takes up to eight events and costs between $2 and $100.

Common questions about sports betting in Alberta

Is sports betting legal in Alberta?

It is legal for anyone 18 or older. In Ontario's regulated market, players must be 19, so the age rules differ by province.

Will my Ontario sportsbook account work in Alberta?

Sites in Ontario's regulated market only serve people who are physically inside Ontario. OLG's PROLINE+ likewise accepts only Ontario residents while they are in the province. In Alberta, stick to a site from the Alberta directory.

Is PRO•LINE played outside Alberta?

That lottery-style sports wager goes by other names elsewhere: in Atlantic Canada, BC, and Ontario it's called Pro-Line, while Quebec has Mise-O-Jeu.

Are lottery tickets sold online in Alberta?

Yes, the Western Canada Lottery Corporation sells them to Albertans online via PlayAlberta.ca. Sport Select, though, must be bought at a retailer.
