In Ontario, LeoVegas runs a legal casino and sportsbook, but Alberta has not approved it. LeoVegas is missing from the official list of approved gambling companies. AGLC (Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis), the gambling regulator for the province, keeps that list. Every site Albertans may use appears on the Alberta iGaming Corporation's list, and LeoVegas is missing from it as well.

Can my LeoVegas Ontario account be used in Alberta?

No. To use the sites on its list, you must be inside Ontario, says iGaming Ontario (its list of legal sites). The Alberta iGaming Corporation states the same for Alberta: logging in or betting requires being in the province (player questions). An account with LeoVegas opened in Ontario keeps working only inside Ontario.

On a site without Alberta approval, what do you give up?

According to the Alberta iGaming Corporation, unapproved sites carry no guaranteed oversight or promised player protection (player page). Approved sites must place your deposits in a Canadian trust account, kept apart from the company's own cash. They are also tied to AGLC's Self-Exclusion Program, so a single request blocks you across all of them. A complaint an approved site leaves unresolved after 72 hours can go to the Alberta iGaming Corporation (player questions).

LeoVegas's Ontario offering: live dealer tables

In Ontario, LeoVegas runs live dealer tables under an iGaming Ontario licence. In a live dealer game, the cards or the wheel are handled by a real person over a video stream. The result is not decided by a random number generator. Studios approved for the Ontario market run the tables.

In Alberta, none of that is open to you. From Alberta you cannot play the live tables LeoVegas runs in Ontario, since the brand is absent from AGLC's register and from the Alberta iGaming Corporation's open-site list.

When live dealer tables are the reason you play, turn to the Alberta sites that offer them. Casino Days lists more than 450 live games. For live tables streamed in HD, TonyBet leads the way. Both are on AGLC's register and take Alberta players today.

Alberta alternatives to LeoVegas

On AGLC's register you will find the Alberta brands matching what LeoVegas covers in Ontario. Casino Days and TonyBet are the leaders on live games for live dealer tables. For slots and a large library, Over 4,000 games is what BetMGM lists. and Casino Days publishes 6,500.

In Alberta, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars and theScore all combine a casino with a sportsbook. A fast cash-out is possible: BetVictor says as little as 40 minutes with fast-funds cards, while Casino Days says under 30 minutes through Interac e-Transfer after approval.

To see your options side by side, our Alberta casino comparison covers every registered site and the figures each one publishes.

LeoVegas's Ontario offering

With an iGaming Ontario licence, LeoVegas operates a full casino there, covering slots, live dealer tables and table games. Its operation in Ontario is legal and regulated. If you play there, the numbers it publishes in that province are the ones to compare.

Alberta gets none of that. Because LeoVegas appears on neither AGLC's register nor the Alberta iGaming Corporation's open-site list, the Ontario licence covers no play from Alberta.

That matters if you move between the two provinces. From Alberta, an Ontario-opened account will not work, and for brands licensed in only one province, the reverse holds as well.

The reason LeoVegas is absent in Alberta

On 13 July 2026, Alberta's regulated market opened, and some brands holding licences elsewhere did not apply to join it. LeoVegas is among those that did not apply, which is why our list of well-known names missing from AGLC's register includes it.

Nothing about the brand is being judged here. The point is about licensing: holding one in Ontario or Malta does not automatically give a company one in Alberta, since each province keeps its own register.

The position changes if LeoVegas later applies and registers. Until that happens, anyone playing there from Alberta is playing outside provincial rules.

What an unregistered brand costs you

Three protections are missing. The company's money is not kept apart from your funds, so your balance has no protection if the operator runs into trouble. If a withdrawal gets refused, no provincial route for complaints is open to you. And it is not covered by the self-exclusion tools that apply to registered sites.

Being arrested is not the practical risk. The player commits no criminal offence by playing at an unregistered site. The risk is that your deposit is not protected, and no regulator stands behind a dispute.

To get the protections, play at a site listed on AGLC's register. Each of them, with the numbers it publishes, appears in our Alberta comparison.

How to see whether Alberta allows a brand

The answer comes from two lists. The company behind each brand is named in AGLC's register of licensed iGaming operators. The Alberta iGaming Corporation's open-site list shows whether an operator is accepting players yet. The first can include a brand that the second does not.

Look up the brand name in the register. A site missing from it is operating outside Alberta's rules. If you find it, write down the company name, then check that the site's terms name that same company.

Every site with an AGLC licence appears in our Alberta register check, including those registered but not open yet.

Playing at LeoVegas: what you should do

In Ontario, LeoVegas is legal, so its Ontario site is open to you there. In Alberta, you cannot, because AGLC's register does not include the brand.

Moving from Ontario to Alberta? Close out the LeoVegas balance you hold before the move. You cannot use an Ontario account from Alberta, and a balance left behind has to be recovered through support.

Moving from Alberta to Ontario reverses things: a LeoVegas account can be opened once you arrive, but from Ontario your Alberta accounts will not work.

Alberta brands that match what LeoVegas offers

Casino Days and TonyBet, both on AGLC's register, lead the field on live games for dealer tables. If slots and a big library are what you want, Casino Days lists 6,500 games, and BetMGM lists more than 4,000.

BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars and theScore each pair a sportsbook with the casino in Alberta. For speed on cash-outs, Casino Days quotes under 30 minutes, while BetVictor quotes as little as 40 minutes.

Alberta's regulated market and LeoVegas

Alberta's regulated market went live on 13 July 2026. To take Alberta players, a brand needed an AGLC registration and an agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation. Because LeoVegas did not do that, it is missing from the register.

This says nothing against the brand itself. It is a statement about the licence: Ontario or Malta licensing does not automatically give a company a licence in Alberta, and every province runs its own register.

Ontario's market and LeoVegas

Ontario opened its market to private companies on 4 April 2022. An iGaming Ontario licence covers the full casino LeoVegas runs after registering there. That licence applies only to play inside Ontario, which is why it is no help to you in Alberta.

LeoVegas in Alberta: Questions and Answers

Is LeoVegas legal in Alberta?

No. Without AGLC approval, LeoVegas may not accept bets from people in Alberta. Near the top, you will find approved sites offering the same mix of casino games plus sports bets.

Is Alberta getting LeoVegas at some point?

Every site open here took two steps first: registering with AGLC and signing an Alberta iGaming Corporation agreement. LeoVegas will come only if the company behind it does the same. Every week, we go through both lists. If LeoVegas appears on them, we will state that here, and the brand will join the list of open sites we publish.

Can my LeoVegas Ontario account be used in Alberta?

No. Play inside Ontario is what an iGaming Ontario licence covers. Alberta keeps its own register, and it does not include LeoVegas. From Alberta, your Ontario account will not work.

Are live dealer tables available at LeoVegas?

It has them in Ontario. Under its iGaming Ontario licence, LeoVegas runs live dealer tables there. Since the brand is not registered with AGLC, none of that is available in Alberta.

If not LeoVegas, what can I play in Alberta?

AGLC's register lists both Casino Days and TonyBet, and each one leads on live dealer tables. With 6,500 games on offer, Casino Days also publishes a cash-out time under 30 minutes. BetMGM's published game count is over 4,000. Every legal site appears in our Alberta comparison.

If a site has no Alberta approval, what am I giving up?

First, your funds are not kept apart from the company's money; second, a refused withdrawal leaves no provincial route to complain; third, registered-site self-exclusion tools do not reach it.

Why is LeoVegas unavailable in Alberta?

Not every brand licensed elsewhere sent in an application for Alberta's regulated market, which opened on 13 July 2026. One of the brands that did not is LeoVegas, so AGLC's register does not include it.

What does LeoVegas have in Ontario?

Under an iGaming Ontario licence, LeoVegas runs a full casino there, with slots, table games and live dealer tables. The licence covers the Ontario operation, which is legal and regulated, but not play from Alberta.

If I play at an unregistered brand, what do I lose?

You lose three protections. The company's money is not kept apart from yours, a refused withdrawal has no provincial route for complaint, and self-exclusion tools built for registered sites do not reach it.

In Alberta, is it a criminal offence to play at an unregistered casino?

No. As a player, you are not committing a criminal offence by playing at an unregistered site. The risk is that your deposit is unprotected, and no regulator stands behind a dispute.

In Alberta, which sites have what LeoVegas offers in Ontario?

Both Casino Days and TonyBet lead on live dealer tables, and AGLC's register includes them. The figures Casino Days gives are 6,500 games plus a cash-out in under 30 minutes. BetMGM's published game count is over 4,000.

How can I tell if a brand is legal in Alberta?

Look up the brand name in AGLC's register of licensed iGaming operators. If the name does not show up, the site sits outside Alberta's rules. Then look at the Alberta iGaming Corporation's open-site list to find out whether the operator has started taking players.

How should I handle my LeoVegas balance if Alberta is where I am moving?

Before you move, close it out. You cannot use an account opened in Ontario from Alberta, and a balance left behind can only be recovered through support.

If I move to Ontario, can I open a LeoVegas account?

Yes. It holds an iGaming Ontario licence, so LeoVegas is legal there. Your Alberta accounts stop working once you are in Ontario, so opening a new one is what you would do.

Why has LeoVegas stayed out of Alberta's regulated market?

The answer is not known to us. To serve Alberta players, a brand needed AGLC registration plus a signed Alberta iGaming Corporation agreement. Because LeoVegas did not, it is absent from the register.

When did LeoVegas start in the Ontario market?

On 4 April 2022, Ontario opened its doors to private companies. Registered in that market, LeoVegas runs a full casino with an iGaming Ontario licence. Only play from inside Ontario is covered by that licence.
